A Washington D.C. man was sentenced in Boston federal court Tuesday in connection with the theft of $32,000 worth of luxury items such as handbags, duffle bags, backpacks and sunglasses from a Gucci store in Wrentham, federal authorities said.

Linworth Hayes Crawford III, 30, was sentenced to eight months in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release, acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Joshua S.

Levy said in a statement. He also has to pay the Gucci store at the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets $32,000 in restitution, the statement said. Crawford pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport stolen goods in interstate commerce and one count of interstate transportation of stolen goods in February, the acting U.

S. Attorney said. Crawford, Nathaniel Ownes, 33, of Maryland and others traveled from Washington, D.

C., to the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets in Massachusetts on Sept. 16, 2021, federal prosecutors said.

The next morning, on Sept.17, 2021, Crawford, Owens and the others entered the Wrentham Gucci store by smashing its front glass door. They then stole $32,000 in high-end merchandise from the store, the prosecutors added.

The day after the theft, one of the suspects posted on Instagram that he had Gucci bags for sale, according to Levy’s office. The Instagram photos of the bags looked similar to the Gucci bags that were stolen from the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets. Crawford also admitted to robbing a Prada store in Dawsonville, Georgi.
