Lockhart Picnic Race Club vice-president Will Lane said it was a good day, with the weather mostly holding off. "We did have a few showers, but other than that, it was quite nice," he said. "Rough estimates are between 900 and 1000 adults.

So that was a good result." Racegoers could sit trackside for lovely picnics, as great food was on offer from Latte Da, Redhead and the Chef, Bruno's Woodfire Pizza, or Pap's Soft Serve. For the kids, there was Snichols Lawn Games, Pengar Face Painting, and Carolyn Spinelli Balloon Modelling.

Mr Lane said the umbrellas and the marquee packages were packed by the track. "We had some very good feedback," he said. "Everyone enjoyed the grounds and surrounds.

They all looked nice. "The track held up well and everyone seemed to have a good time." And of course, synonymous with popular race days was The categories were junior girl, junior boy, best dressed teen, novice, gentlemen of the day, most elegant lady, most outstanding headpiece and best dressed couple.

Mr Lane said everyone got involved with the fashion on the day. "We had some good entrants in the Fashions on the Field,".
