A day trip to a new place is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. You get that recharged feeling from getting out of the city, as well as getting the pleasure of exploring a less familiar area. But, with so much to see and do in Bristol itself, many people living here may not be aware of some of the gorgeous spots just beyond the city boundaries.

These include picturesque English villages and hidden gems nestled between rolling hills, rivers and breathtaking scenery. Its gorgeous French-style medieval castle with a moat running through is situated in the centre of the village. It was built for Sir John Dalaware in 1373 and is said to have been based on the Bastille in Paris. Opposite the castle is the George pub, a 17th country pub offering a cosy fire during the colder months and local hearty cuisine.
