Actor Park Sang-min / Courtesy of Management YUL Prosecutors sought a six-month jail term Friday for actor Park Sang-min on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol in Gwacheon, south of Seoul, in May. The 54-year-old actor, known for his lead role in the "General's Son" trilogy directed by Im Kwon-taek in the 1990s, was accused of driving his Toyota vehicle in Gwacheon on the morning of May 19, reportedly after drinking until the early hours. He fell asleep inside the car in an alley near his home, and the police apprehended him after a witness filed a report.

His blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.163 percent at that time, which warrants the revocation of his driver's license. Accusations also included that he illegally used a badge permitting parking in spaces reserved for disabled individuals.

Prosecutors demanded a six-month prison term for Park during the closing hearing held at the Suwon District Prosecutors Office's branch in Anyang. Park has previously been penalized for drunk driving on several occasions. In 2011, he was apprehended for driving an acquaintance's vehicle in southern Seoul with a blood alcohol level exceeding the license revocation threshold, 14 years after causing a car accident while drunk driving in 1997.
