Kalaburagi: Five persons have been arrested for allegedly torturing a minor by burning his hands and feet with cigarettes after he was accused of stealing money from a house in Dubai Colony on Friday in Kalaburagi city. Abhishek, 14, a resident of Dubai Colony, is the victim. While Abhishek was on his way to school, Shrishail, a resident of the same colony, brought the teen to his house and burned his hands and feet with a cigarette while questioning him about stealing money.
Shrishail’s friends, Shivakumar, Jagannath, Saibanna, and Mallik, joined him in this act and forced the boy to confess to stealing money. Abhishek’s parents, who are working in Hyderabad, rushed to Kalaburagi after learning about the matter. Abhishek told his parents that he had not stolen the money.
He said that five youths beat him up, and burned him with cigarettes for three to four hours to force him to admit that he had stolen the money. No matter how much the boy screamed, the neighbours did not come to help, the boy revealed. An FIR has been registered against the five accused by Abhishek’s parents at Chowk police station.
