The organising committee members pose for a group photo during their recent trip to study the route to the cave. KUCHING (Sept 19): A 4×4 Off-Road adventure driving expedition to Rembang Cave – a new potential tourist spot in Bung Tabak, Kampung Emperoh Karu – will be held this Saturday (Sept 21). Padawan 4×4 Adventure Club president Ramses Tawang said the event is organised by the club in collaboration with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Emperoh Karu.

“The site is located 40km away from Kuching city. “Enthusiasts of 4×4 off-road adventure, hikers and cavers are encouraged to participate in the event,” he said, adding that there will be no fees charged. Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin will inaugurate the event and flag off the participants at the Kampung Emperuh Karu football field, he added.

Meanwhile, Emperoh Karu village chief Noing Sijim said that there are plans to develop Rembang Cave and the surrounding area into a tourist attraction. As such, he welcomed the Gua Rembang Expedition event that is set to introduce the area to the public. “Those going there will definitely be amazed to see its natural beauty, such as the unique shape of the rocks and the river that flows in the cave, as well as the beauty of the forest and the wildlife, such as swiftlets, bats and insects,” he said.
