Pune: Four people have been arrested by the Nigdi police on the charge of attacking a 38-year-old Akurdi resident and his friend late on Saturday. According to the police, the incident occurred at Transportnagar where the complainant, who runs a small business, and his friend had gone to have dinner. "A minor collision between the two-wheeler of the complainant and the suspects led to the altercation which later turned violent," a police officer said.
"Those arrested were part of a six-member group that attacked the businessman and his friend," the officer added. The businessman suffered internal injuries in the attack, while his friend got away with minor bruises. "He (the businessman) is undergoing treatment at a private hospital," sub-inspector Ashok Shirke of the Nigdi police station told TOI.
"Those arrested have been identified as Om Dalvi (22), Omkar Avande (24), Ganesh Kumbhar (26), and Pritesh Jadhav (21) — all residents of Siddhivinayaknagar in Nigdi. They have been charged under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," the officer added. Shirke said when the duo was returning home on a scooter after having dinner their vehicle was brushed by a two-wheeler of one of the suspects.
"Things escalated when the victim and his friend slapped one of the suspects. This is when the suspects were called to the spot," he said..
