A three-year-old girl in Hong Kong has died after she was hit by a tram in an accident which also injured a 66-year-old man and a six-year-old girl. The man and the two young girls were hit by an eastbound tram outside the Kennedy Town Swimming Pool at around 10 am on Thursday. Local media said the tram hit the trio while they were crossing the road, before dragging them under the vehicle.

Photos circulated online showed at least three fire trucks and more than a dozen firemen at the scene. Police told HKFP the man sustained multiple injuries but was conscious when he was rescued. The six-year-old girl was also conscious and was bleeding from her head.

The three-year-old girl had multiple injuries and was unconscious. All were taken to Queen Mary Hospital, where the three-year-old was later pronounced dead. According to local media, the man was the grandfather of the girls and they were accompanied by a 34-year-old domestic worker.
