Vadodara: A group of artists from diverse backgrounds, including those who served as senior teachers, heads of departments, and deans of M S University 's faculty of fine arts , came together for a group show titled " Unconventional Alliance ". Around 50 artworks by 38 artists, including the likes of the late eminent artists K G Subramanyam and Bhupen Khakhar, among others, are being showcased at this exhibition. "Unconventional Alliance brings together a diverse group of artists to continue Vadodara's vibrant art scene.
It brings together local artists in unexpected collaborations," said artist Rupal Buch, who curated the show. "This exhibition celebrates the beauty of unexpected pairings, where separate elements converge to create something entirely new and thought-provoking," she said, adding that it is a testament to the transformative power of art to challenge, inspire, and connect. The exhibition showcases paintings, sculptures, ceramic works, and prints.
"All the artists were or are based in Vadodara. They used metal, glass, and ceramic in sculptures and acrylic as a medium. Works of some of the senior artists who studied or were teachers in the 1950s and 1960s are also on display," she said.
The exhibition was inaugurated by eminent artist Jyoti Bhatt, art Historian Deepak Kannal, and regional director of IGNCA regional centre, Vadodara, Arupa Lahiry, on Friday evening. It will continue until Oct 20 at the exhibition hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The exhibition sh.
