Two major brands of , including Silk, are being recalled in Canada due to fears they may be contaminated with listeria. As of Aug. 12, the reported 20 people had been sickened across four provinces and territories in connection with the outbreak.

The agency also reported 15 hospitalizations and three deaths as part of the listeria outbreak. Back in July, the agency warned the public that Silk and Great Value brands of , oat, cashew and coconut non-dairy milks were being recalled due to possible contamination with listeria, a bacteria that can cause severe illness among certain groups. The recall includes 18 specific products.

People who were sickened in this outbreak reported symptoms between August 2023 and mid-July 2024. Many of those who got sick reported consuming the recalled non-dairy beverages, the . The recall includes brands, including Silk almond and coconut milks.

All of the affected non-dairy beverages have product codes containing 7825, according to the government's notice. They also have best-by dates up to and including Sept. 27, 2024, or Oct.
