Lucknow: A man arrested in 1987 for planning a train robbery at Utrethia railway station, who secured bail in 1990 and remained elusive for the next 34 years, finally ran out of luck when he was arrested from Alambagh bus station on Wednesday. A reward of Rs 1,000 was also declared on the arrest of the fugitive in 2003. According to government railway police, the accused, Krishna Kumar Mishra (65), had secured bail in 1990 in a case in which he was accused of planning a train dacoity.
An FIR under sections 399 (planning of robbery), 420 (cheating) of the IPC, and section 3/25 Arms Act were registered at the local police station. “After getting bail, he fled to West Bengal and stayed there for the last 33 years. He had been staying in Arjunnagar area of Kolkata where he married for the second time and had children,” a GRP officer said.
“Sometimes, he secretly visited Lucknow to meet his first wife and children,” he added. “On Wednesday, Mishra reached Alambagh bus station after meeting his son from his first wife when he was arrested,” he said. During interrogation, Mishra claimed that he had come to Lucknow with his friend to find a lawyer to help him end his cases when he was arrested by a GRP team, led by inspector Sanjay Kharwar from Charbagh GRP station.
