BENGALURU: Police said the charred body recovered three weeks ago from a coffee planation at Kodagu in Karnataka, is a murder. The body is that of Ramesh (54), a businessman. His wife Niharika (29), lover Nikhil (28) and his friend Ankur have been arrested in the case.
Police said the three killed Ramesh for money. The murder was committed in Hyderabad and travelled across state borders to dispose of the body. The police found a charred body in a coffee plantation near Suntikoppa in Kodagu on October 8.
After efforts to identify the body failed, they examined the CCTV footage to check the vehicles that passed through the area. The police then noticed a red Benz car and confirmed as Ramesh's vehicle. Meanwhile, Niharika had lodged a missing complaint with the police.
As the probe progressed, police suspected the role of Niharika. When she was taken into custody and questioned, she confessed to have committed the crime. Police said Niharika excelled in her studies.
