Patna: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Patna gave away coveted degrees to altogether 212 of its scholars at its annual convocation held at CIMP auditorium here on Saturday. Eight of these degree recipients were awarded gold medals for their extraordinary performance. Addressing the convocation, chief guest and Union textiles minister, Giriraj Singh , lauded the NIFT’s role in shaping aspiring fashion designers.

He also praised designer Manish Tripathi’s work on creating outfits for Lord Rama in Ayodhya. Praising the students for their extraordinary performance, the minister said, “You can achieve everything in life, if you pursue your goal with dedication and hard work. If you have merit, nobody can stop you from reaching at the top.

” He observed that India is a country of the youth and only they can transform the country from a developing into the developed one with their strong determination and commitment. He pointed out that India has made tremendous progress in every sphere in recent times. State industries minister Nitish Mishra, NIFT’s director general Tanu Kashyap, and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad also addressed the students.

NIFT Patna ’s director Rahul Sharma presented the annual report, highlighting the academic achievements of the institution. State-level NIFT advisory committee members and leaders from the Indian fashion industry, besides faculty members, staff and students attended the convocation. Those who were awarded gold medals.
