Prayagraj: A joint team of Cantt police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) on Tuesday arrested two persons on charges of making fake marriage certificates . The police also seized three monitors, three CPUs, three keyboards, three mouses and two printers along with fake certificates from their possession. These miscreants identified as Shehmani Dubey alias Raja and Anil Kumar Prajapati, residents of Colonelganj and Akbarpur respectively were wanted by the police in connection with a case registered under section 318 (4), 338, 336(3) and 340 (2) of BNS with Cantt police station in Oct.

While investigating the case, the joint team carried out a search operation and nabbed the duo who was working at a photocopy centre near Rajapur Hanuman mandir road. A senior police official said the matter came to the notice through a writ filed in court. Many newly wedded couples often file writ petitions before courts to seek protection.

These couples often get these certificates from religious organisations to get their marriages registered. After that, they submit these certificates before courts to seek protection. In some cases, newlywed couples approach such shops and manage to get fake marriage certificates.
