Lucknow: A property dispute in Balrampur has resulted in the deaths of two men following a violent altercation . On Saturday, a confrontation between Shyam Kumar (38) and Bindu Lal (39) over land escalated into violence, ultimately killing both men. According to police reports, the dispute occurred around 11am in Kanchanpur village, located under the gram panchayat of Badka Bhukurua.

During the altercation, Shyam sustained severe injuries to his head and back. He was initially treated at the Pachpedwa community health centre (CHC), where Dr Vijay Kumar confirmed that Shyam was brought in unconscious. Shyam was referred to the district hospital but died on the way.

“In a subsequent development, Bindu, fearing arrest and potential blame for Shyam’s death, reportedly hanged himself from a mango tree near his home early on Sunday morning. Local police were alerted to the situation and arrived at the scene to investigate,” said SHO Pachpedwa, Awadhesh Raj Singh. The SHO confirmed the death and said that while the dispute is well-documented, no formal complaints have been lodged by either family.

He suggested that Shyam’s death might have been caused by an underlying illness. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Yogesh Kumar said that a thorough investigation is underway. A team from the field unit is actively collecting evidence from the scene to better understand the circumstances surrounding the events.
