Prayagraj : Fatehpur police on Sunday claimed to have rescued a 17-year-old boy who concocted his own kidnapping story and sought Rs 10 lakh ransom from family members. Police said the father of the boy, a resident of Hasnapursani under the limits of Malwa police station of Fatehpur district on Saturday dialled 112 and complained about the kidnapping of his minor son. The news of the kidnapping of the minor boy also surfaced on social media.

Following the development, senior police officials deputed a joint team of Malwa police and surveillance to work out the case. The joint team later traced and rescued the boy near the village Korai highway. Police said the boy use to chat with a local girl on Instagram.

However, when the family members of the girl came to know about it, they approached the boy’s family and asked the boy to mend his ways. In order to save himself from his family members’ ire , the boy concocted a kidnapping story and called up his family members demanding Rs 10 lakh ransom. After making the call to his father from his phone, he switched off the phone.

However, when the boy opened his mobile, the surveillance cell traced his location and rescued him.
