Thiruvananthapuram: In four different incidents on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, police seized nearly 15.5 kilograms of ganja and several banned tobacco products and recorded the arrests of seven people, including a couple , and a father, and son. Palode police arrested a man and his father on Sunday morning during a raid at their house.

However, police said the father was not involved in the ganja business but was arrested for keeping banned tobacco products for sale. The arrested have been identified by police as Nadisha, 24, of Mulamoottil Veedu near Kollayil at Palode, and his father Nazeer Kunju, 54. They were arrested earlier as well over drug business, and this time the raid was conducted jointly by Palode police and shadow police on the basis of a tip-off received by a top cop.

On Saturday morning, Kovalam police arrested a couple with 12.5 kilograms of ganja. Unnikrishnan, 39, of Nivedhyam at Muttathara, and his wife Aswathy, 35, were arrested while they were transporting drugs on a two-wheeler at Kovalam.

The couple tried to evade police as their vehicle was stopped during a vehicle check at Vizhinjam, but police chased them, and they were arrested from Kovalam. Meanwhile, Mannanthala police arrested Akhilesh, 35, of Kinavoor, and Akhil, 25, of Vattapara with 900 grams of ganja while trying to sell it at Madathunnada. Fort police arrested Niyas T, 34, of Karimadom Colony, on Friday night with 500 grams of ganja in front of a bar near Power House while attemptin.
