From its rugged coastline to its rolling dales, there's not much Yorkshire hasn't got in its favour. From sweeping landscapes and stunning seasides, to rich history and welcoming locals, Yorkshire has it all. And the variety you can find in its landscape and culture doesn't stop there - it also has an array of famous faces in very different walks of life.

From Hollywood stars to TV favourites, from stage stalwarts to vocal legends, God's Own Country's not short of talent. Here, we have put together a list of some recognisable faces from the TV and film industry who you may or may not have known came from Yorkshire. And, more importantly, what they're up to now.

Starting with the main lady herself, Dame Judi Dench was born in York and attended Mount School before studying at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Dame Judi was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1970, a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 1988. She was appointed as a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH) in 2005.

She also played Queen Elizabeth I in Shakespeare in Love (1998), and Old Deuteronomy in the 2019 Cats movie. Judi's last screen role was a cameo in 2022's Spirited.
