HOLD onto your seats, folks — a first-of-its-kind rollercoaster is coming soon. Adrenaline junkies can test out Massachusett 's Six Flags New England's latest ride, the Quantum Accelerator, set to open in 2025. The steampunk-themed ride, including hoverbike vehicles, will join the park's line of a huge waterpark and 11 other coasters.

Passengers will hold onto handlebars as the attraction launches them into twists and turns. The coaster features over 2,600 feet of track and 11 airtime moments, with a runtime of about two minutes and 14 seconds. Unlike traditional coasters with an uphill climb, the Quantum Accelerator will begin with a rapid launch from zero to 30 miles in mere seconds.

"Quantum Accelerator is an innovative addition that will redefine the family thrill ride experience at Six Flags New England,” said Pete Carmichael, Six Flags New England park president, in a statement. “With its dual-launch system and unique straddle seat design, this coaster is set to become a favorite for guests of all ages. "It perfectly complements our extensive lineup of world-class rides and attractions, making Six Flags New England the ultimate destination for family fun and excitement in 2025.

” Quantum Accelerator's backstory stars Professor Screamore, an original character introduced by the theme park in 2024. Screamore acquired the quaint town of Crackaxle Canyon in a secret purchase. The abandoned Wild West spot was the ideal hiding place for his laboratory of secret inventions.

The inventor, who has always had a penchant for time travel, came up with the Quantum Accelerator, a combination of his love for old-world tech, such as steam-powered machinery, and innovative modern marvels. To celebrate the new coaster, Six Flags New England is running a promotion on tickets through September 2. Guests can score up to 70 percent off on admission, season passes, and more.
