Monday, August 19, 2024 On National Aviation Day, American Airlines pays tribute to the remarkable milestones in aviation and looks ahead to the limitless possibilities the future holds. With innovation and exploration at the core of the industry, American is dedicated to cultivating a diverse pipeline of future aviation professionals. Nurturing the next generation is essential for the ongoing evolution and progress of modern aviation.

American actively supports initiatives that provide hands-on experience and interactive learning for young minds, including the award-winning Aviation STEM Summer Camp at the American Airlines CR Smith Museum. This week-long summer camp offers a comprehensive STEM-focused curriculum and exposure to inspiring industry experts. This year, American sponsored 56 students from Clinton P.

Russell Elementary School and Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, granting them a fully funded opportunity to immerse themselves in aviation and STEM concepts. The goal was to help them gain confidence and realize that careers in these fields are attainable.

By offering impactful educational programs to children from all backgrounds, American and the CR Smith Museum are expanding the reach of the aviation community. “The camp provided our students with invaluable exposure to aviation. It was truly the experience of a lifetime, opening doors and kindling dreams that will shape their futures,” said Chara Pace , Principal of Clinton P.

Russell Elementary. “Our students returned with a clear vision of their potential future in the aviation industry by exploring careers from aircraft mechanics and engineers to pilots and flight attendants.” American Airlines celebrates the past while laying a strong foundation for the future, empowering tomorrow’s leaders with the skills and confidence to soar to new heights.

Enrollment for the 2025 summer camp opens in March 2025. Visit the CR Smith Museum website to discover more about the enriching educational opportunities available to students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area throughout the year. These development programs are made possible by the generous contributions of museum donors and members.
