For couples dreaming of an exotic wedding but can't afford to go abroad, a new wedding venue in North Devon may offer them the 'perfect' alternative. 'HARTA retreat', a collection of 'holiday boltholes' in North Devon has recently launched as a wedding venue, offering couples a setting that 'feels like a world away.' The retreat’s combination of a waterside setting, luxury glamping tipis and a converted barn is said to create a distinctive, one-of-a-kind experience for couples.
The 46-acre wildflower and meadow estate could be ideal for those seeking a peaceful, intimate wedding in the great outdoors. According to those who run the venue, the secluded estate is suited for both larger weddings (up to 150 people) and for smaller family and friend groups such as micro weddings, elopements and vow renewals. The stunning Tentipi Nordic tipis with a wildlife pond as backdrop make for a 'magical hideaway' for a civil ceremony or handfasting with a celebrant, and to dance the night away in celebration.
Weddings at HARTA retreat start from £9750 including accommodation for 16 guests and two dogs. With limited dates available from April to October 2025, couples are invited to explore the venue at an Open Day on Sunday, September 29, from 10am to 4pm. HARTA retreat owner Miranda Blaas-Cousins said: “We’re proud to have created what someone has aptly described as ‘a little Shangri-La in the heart of North Devon’.
You literally feel like you’re transported to an exotic oasis .
