While some people were surprised of the decision, Stenberg maintains the show's abrupt cancelation did not surprise her, she claimed in an Instagram Story video, before revealing some hate the show has received since its inception.

'I'm gonna be transparent and say that it's not a huge shock for me,' she said in the clip, while working on her braided locks in the clip. 'Of course I live in the bubble of my own reality, but for those who aren't aware, there has been a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced, when it was still just a concept and no one had even seen it.' 'That's when we started experiencing a rampage of what I would say is hyper-conservative, bigotry, and vitriol, prejudice, hatred, and hateful language towards us,' the actress, who starred as twin sisters Osha and Mae, described the that the show received.



She claims that all the negativity 'really affected me when I first got the job even though I anticipated it happening; it's not something you can fully understand what it feels like until it’s happening to you. Amandla Stenberg, 25, maintained the cancelation of Star Wars: The Acolyte by Disney+ and Lucasfilm after season one was 'not a huge shock for me' But in the nearly two years since production began the actress has a sense of calm about all the negativity and backlash. 'However, I feel like I've kinda moved through those feelings in various ways, including being vocal about it myself.

For me, it just became a situation where there was no option but for me to honor my sense of ethics and my belief system and my value system while being in this very unique position,' she explained of the workings within the massive IP that is Star Wars. 'On that topic, I just have to say it has been an incredible honor and dream for me to be in this universe,' Stenberg said of the Star wars Universe, as reported by Deadline . She continued.

'Even though, of course I'm very sad about the show being canceled, and I’m sad about us not being able to give people invested in it more, I still just feel a lot of levity and joy around the fact that I got to experience it and that people loved it and that people were so responsive.' She proceeded to disclose some of the interactions she's had with devoted fans over the last couple of years. 'I poured through a lot of different iterations of fan art, and ship art, and fan theories, and things that were so beautiful and filled my heart with joy,' she shared with a big beaming smile of her face.

Despite all that hate and negativity, who she called out to the the 'alt-right', The Hate U Give star told fans and supports that they are 'deeply loved and appreciated and it made this job all the worthwhile to me.' Some fans were devastated by the decision to axe the show, with some complaining that 'it had so much potential!'
