Amanda Holden has made a heartwarming family announcement following the concerning news about her co-star, Jamie Theakston . The Heart Radio star, 52, paid tribute to the dad-of-two, 53, on Tuesday when Jamie revealed he's been diagnosed with Stage 1 throat cancer. Promising to "hold the fort" for her friend, who told fans "I have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me" in a positive post on Instagram , Amanda told listeners that she's the proud owner of a puppy, who she adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Bringing the pooch into the studio, she joked the bundle of fluff was "a replacement for my eldest daughter ,who has gone to university". Updating her legion of loyal fans on the newest addition to her family, Amanda explained that she was fostering one of three puppies, who had been dumped outside the doors of the charity. "I have my little puppy by my feet that’s been rescued from Battersea Dogs & Cats home," she shared.

"I went to Battersea, got out the car, walked into the building, and she came out of her little holdall, and she licked all my foundation off. I wouldn’t take it from anyone else, but this little scrap is just so gorgeous." Adding the dog had been on her best behaviour in the studio, she continued: "She’s been so well behaved.

We had lots and lots of cuddles. Battersea Dogs & Cats home do a tremendous job as do all shelters across the country, and if you’re thinking of getting a pet, obviously think carefully, but think about rescuing or fostering, there’s so many that need a home and need love. And cats.

There are so many cats at Battersea at the moment. So yes, have a little look on their website www.battersea.

Explaining the presenter had given her strict instructions in his absence while he receives treatment, she said: "He has told us that we have got to hold the fort and he has told us that the show must go on and absolutely that's what we're going to do. We're going to do him proud." The Britain's Got Talent judge also rushed to social media to share her love and support.

She shared Jamie's post about his diagnosis on her Story and added: "We love you @jamie_theakston." She then wrote on her own Instagram page: "Our wonderful @jamie_theakston has been diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him.

Jamie. We love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon." Following his diagnosis, Jamie thanked fans, who noticed key symptoms before he was diagnosed with cancer.

The broadcaster previously said he would be off the air for some time after struggling with his voice. But on Tuesday, he announced that a biopsy taken during his operation saw him diagnosed with Stage 1 Laryngeal cancer. This type of cancer forms in the tissues of the larynx – part of the throat between the base of the tongue and the trachea.

Taking to Instagram earlier this month, Jamie stated that fans had noticed a huge change in his voice, posting: "Sooo – a few of you listeners have noticed my voice hasn't sounded right these past few weeks – I've got you to thank...

Got it checked – Doctors found a lesion on my vocal chords which I've had removed this weekend – thanks for all the kind messages – should be back on my feet soon." Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads ..
