Amanda Abbington took centre stage on ITV's Lorraine to shed further light on the Strictly Come Dancing scandal. The 50-year-old actress took a seat next to Christine Lampard to update on the situation, following the claims she'd made against her pro-partner Giovanni Pernice, accusing him of "bullying" and "abusive" behaviour while they were in training. Since her claims were aired, the Italian champion dancer has departed the programme and an investigation into his conduct was launched by the BBC .

After Amanda spoke out against the glizy show, a whole array of concerning claims were also put forward to the broadcasting giant, with many people now coming forward to share their own harrowing experiences. Christine asked: "What do you think should happen for Strictly next? With the show, with the proceedings?" Amanda told her: "I love Strictly.

I think this is just an anomaly, I always wanted to do that show. I think it's a beautiful British institution and everybody loves it. It's like when I was a kid watching Morecambe and Wise, it's the same thing, you tune in every Saturday night to watch Strictly.

" Amanda 'does want an apology' from the BBC Praising those who work on the production, she added: "Most people on that show are wonderful and I've made some good friends on that show. I don't want it to end, I want it to have a wonderful extended life because it's real Saturday entertainment." In response to her question, Amanda couldn't foresee the future of the glitterball competition, explaining to the host: "I don't know what the answer is, I don't, because it's not up to me.

" Amanda raised claims about Giovanni's conduct during training Christine wanted to know what Amanda expected from the show's bosses, quizzing: "What would you like from the BBC?" Amanda stated: "I'd like an apology yeah. I'd like an apology and I'd like this not to happen to people working in that corporation again. I'd like women to be listened to and heard and taken seriously.

" Giovanni is not the only star to have been let go from the family-fun production. Last week, after claims emerged about the relationship in training between Zara McDermott and her pro-partner Graziano Di Prima, it appeared things were not as rosy as they seemed, with further allegations put forward to the channel over his conduct. Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and can be streamed via ITVX.
