The Alzheimer's Association Heart of America Chapter is hosting a "Walk to End Alzheimer's" event on Sunday, Sept. 22, in St. Joseph.

The walk site opens at 8 a.m. at the St.

Joe Frontier Casino, with a Promise Garden Flower Ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. with the walk to follow.

“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are now treatments that change the course of the disease,” said John Anderson, Walk Committee Chair. “We hope that everyone in our community can join us by starting a team to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments and finally ending this disease.

” The association reports that over 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, which is the leading cause of death in the United States. Walk day will serve as a way to honor those affected by the disease and family members and caregivers of those who are affected.
