Friends of the Ten Mile River Watershed will be conducting their summer cleanup from 9 to about 11 a.m. Sunday.

Those interested in helping out should meet at the ballfield parking area behind the North Attleboro DPW Building on Whiting Street. You’ll be cleaning up litter and other items along the Ten Mile River and Whiting Pond. “We are looking for volunteers to come out and make a difference along our beautiful waterway,” Ben Cote of the Friends said.

Franklin goes to the dogs The Franklin Lions Club is hosting a celebration of dogs Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.

m., on the town common. The event, hosted by the Franklin Lions Club, is designed to showcase canine companions and highlight all the ways they help us and how we can help them.

Vendors, information booths, raffles, and demonstrations will be featured along with rescue groups with dogs to adopt. Fireworks coming to Plainville? The new Spirit of Plainville community organization is holding a fundraiser in September, with an eye toward raising money for a Fourth of July fireworks display, among other activities. The first annual Spirit of Plainville Gala will be held at 7 p.

m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Heather Hill Country Club in town.

Appetizers and dinner will be served. The evening will also include music and dancing, raffles and auction items. All funds raised will further expand community programming.

Besides continuing the newly established Summer Concert Series, the group would like to begin fireworks, a parade, festivals and other events geared toward building community spirit. Rehoboth concerts continue Sunday The town’s summer concert series continues Sunday at the Veterans Memorial Gazebo, Redway Plain, 401 Winthrop St. (Route 44). The remaining lineup includes: Aug.

, Neil & The Vipers. There will be food trucks. The concerts are partly sponsored by the Rehoboth Park Commission and Rehoboth Cultural Council, and donations are accepted at each concert.
