Alma Wilkerson Breazeale Alma Wilkerson Breazeale, born September 23, 1940 in Shelby County to the late Joe Wilkerson, Sr. and Bertha (Smith) Wilkerson and passed from this life Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Alma was the 7th of 9 children born to her parents.

Alma is survived by her daughters and their families; Darlene and Donnie Kee, Sharon and Bill Brown; grandsons, Trey Brown and wife Rachel, Steven Brown and wife Shelby; great-grandchildren, Kynlee Brown, Josiah Brown, Cora Brown, and Kevin Boyles and wife Danielle; step-granddaughters, Melanie Tieperman and family and Brandi Wheaton and family; sister, Clara Breazeale; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Bencivenga and Glenda Tobias; special niece, Hellen Schmidt; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. Alma moved to Diboll around age five years and graduated from Diboll High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Billy Wayne Breazeale, on January 29, 1960.



After working at the Dairy Kream in high school, Alma worked for several years at Lufkin Telephone Exchange. She and her sister, Clara, were licensed beauticians for several years and owned their own beauty shop. She worked for Dr.

Royce Read for many years and loved working around people. She was baptized in her senior year of high school at the Mission Church of First Baptist Church, which later was named Lakeview Baptist Church. Over the years at Lakeview, Alma served as youth director, church treasurer and teacher.

Alma loved to volunteer and was a past member of the Pilot Club and was a past Ombudsman for the State of Texas which she counted a great cause to help families that had family members in the nursing home environment. After their children got married, Billy and Alma took dance lessons and spent many years meeting new people that became friends at the SPJST Lodge in Lufkin. Alma served as an officer there and loved to decorate and enjoyed dressing up for the various dances and balls.

Alma enjoyed life, loved having a good time and playing pranks on others. She loved spending time with family, especially anything that involved her grandchildren. Alma is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Billy Wayne Breazeale; parents, Joe Wilkerson, Sr.

and Bertha Wilkerson; parents-in-law, Earnest and Nannie Breazeale; sisters, Novis Rains, Loyce Waley, Ima Jean Anderson, and Maurine Bridwell; and brother, Joe Wilkerson, Jr. A private family service will be held at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother C.
