Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday made it clear that the govt will not succumb to any pressure and continue its drive against encroachers through Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection ( HYDRA ). "Our govt stands for righteousness in the spirit of Lord Krishna's teachings. We take inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita and Lord Krishna's teachings to Arjuna in Mahabharata to wage war against family to protect dharma.

This is not a programme for politics or political parties, but for dharma. There is immense pressure from powerful individuals who own these properties, but it is a matter of safeguarding our future generations. As Lord Krishna taught, dharma must prevail and adharma must be defeated," Revanth said after laying foundation for 450-ft Hare Krishna heritage towers in Kokapet.

CM's backing for ongoing demolition drive by HYDRA came a day after authorities razed N-Convention, co-owned by actor Nagarjuna. "Some properties may belong to our friends too. But we take inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita.

I know some of the properties belong to people who have the ability to impact politically and even society. But no one, regardless of their social or political influence, will be spared in the crackdown on such unlawful activities," he said. The CM said that the Nizams developed Hyderabad as a lake city over 100 years ago.

Some farmhouses have been built for luxuries in the vicinity of lakes and ponds, which quenched the thirst of crores of people. Wastewater from farmhouses was being discharged into Gandipet (Osmansagar) and Himayatsagar, which have been providing drinking water to the city, he pointed out. "Being elected representatives, we should not neglect (the lakes).

It is the reason the govt started protecting the lakes from encroachments through HYDRA," he said. "The Congress govt is committed to doing good work for the people. The main objective is to liberate these lakes from encroachers.

Encroachments will be dealt with an iron hand. Though there are pressures, the govt will remove these encroachments," he stated. On the proposed Hare Krishna heritage tower, the CM said it would provide spiritual teachings in the concrete jungle.

"It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of such a project. The construction is expected to be completed within 36 to 40 months," he added. The CM offered to inaugurate the tower once completed and urged the foundation to invite him for it.

He also requested the Hare Krishna Foundation to provide food at Osmania Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, NIMS, and Cancer Hospitals to the needy. "The state govt will provide necessary facilities," he added..
