In an exclusive conversation with India.com, actor Salim Diwan revealed about his method preparations about his character of a criminal. He spoke about how he met other people from the community to understand their psyche.
In addition to this he also talks about why he is “choosy” about his characters and his experiences with Vinay Pathak and Raima Sen too. Salim Diwan is a method actor who prepares well before getting into the shoes of the character. Even the film director Preeti Singh appreciated Salim’s way of prep time.
Actors often go above and beyond when gearing up for a character. Hence, he likes having an array of shades of roles and personal satisfaction is his priority.
Speaking about the kind of roles or scripts he expects, Diwan said, “Main thoda choosy hun cinema ko leke. Kuch bhi ayga toh main nahi karunga.” Salim was being offered characters of same shade after he did ‘Bollywood Diaries’, however, he refused.
He believes in not getting stereotyped and doing more performance oriented roles. Salim Diwan also mentioned how it had been an exhilarating experience working with seasoned actors like Raima Sen and Vinay Pathak with each of them carrying their own uniqueness.
