This article contains spoilers for Alien: Romulus . Despite having the biggest movie of the week, there are some critics Fede Álvarez just can’t convince. The Alien: Romulus director briefly dropped into an Alien franchise subreddit this week to chat with fans about his new sequel, but the moderators weren’t having it, flagging Álvarez as an imposter in a notice that he is “permanently banned” from the subreddit.

“Got banned from the ALIEN subreddit for apparently trying to impersonate, myself,” he wrote on X with a laughing emoji, sharing a screenshot of the message. The moderator shared an update that Álvarez “was immediately reinstated and had a very friendly conversation with us. Awesome guy.

” They also shared the filmmaker’s response. “I’m sorry, just found it hilarious,” wrote Álvarez. “My bad.

Not harm done. Thanks again for such great work moderating my favorite subreddit.” Before Álvarez was given the boot from the thread, he confirmed one fan’s SPOILER-heavy theory about the characters Bjorn ( Spike Fearn ) and his pregnant cousin Kay ( Isabela Merced ).

“Right before Bjorn’s death, he and Kay share a moment where they touch each other in a very intimate way. Am I the only one who thought this was a sign that Bjorn is the ‘jerk’ who got her pregnant?” the r edditor asked, to which Álvarez replied, “Yes he is. Good catch!” The seventh installment in the franchise — set between the events of the franchise’s first two films, Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) — follows a group of young space colonizers as they scavenge a derelict space station, coming face-to-face with a xenomorph.

Co-written by Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues, Alien: Romulus also stars Caliee Spaeny , David Jonsson , Archie Renaux and Aileen Wu . The movie opened to $108.2 million globally , the second-best opening for the franchise and a career best for Álvarez and Spaeny.
