British Olympic gold medalist Alex Yee pipped triathlon rival Hayden Wilde to first place AGAIN by surging ahead in the final 14 seconds of the pair's latest race. Yee, 26, claimed a dramatic victory in the Boston supertri on Sunday with another late dart on Wilde, with the New Zealand athlete left furious at the finish line. The Team GB star, who sensationally pipped Wilde to gold in Paris last month, even crossed the line with his arms folded, looking supremely confident.

Running towards the camera as the crowd celebrated, Yee nodded his head while looking down the lens. Behind him, Wilde cut a frustrated figure by gesturing with his arms and shaking his head. Social media became ablaze with reaction, with one user posting: "Who would have guessed Olympic gold medalist triathlete Alex Yee was cold as ice?" Another added: "Nah, this guy's a menace and I'm here for it.

" "See how a bit of arrogance makes a sport interesting?" A third said. "Because why am I now locked into triathlon beef?" The supertri is even more gruelling than the Olympic event, as it's three back-to-back triathlons (all in swim-bike-run order) with no breaks in between. It also has a brutal twist in that should an athlete fall more than 90 seconds behind the race leader at any point, they'll be eliminated.

Each stage consists of a 300m swim (one lap), a 4km cycle (four laps) and a 1.6km run (two laps). Yee, who won with a time of 49:02, and Wilde's rivalry dominated the race, with reigning champion Dorian Coninx suffering a five-second penalty and coming in at third.

Yee was born in Lewisham and trained in Leeds with the legendary Brownlee brothers - Alistair and Jonny, who both won Olympic gold medals for Team GB - for three years until 2020. The 26-year-old competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, earning a silver medal in the triathlon. Your turn! Will Alex Yee become as iconic as the Brownlee brothers? Join the debate in the comments section On winning gold this time in Paris, Yee told Olympics.

com : "I'm not really sure myself (how I managed it), to be honest. It was just one of those magic moments where you hear about these Olympic moments and people finding extra stuff within themselves. It was just one of those where I just decided that I was going to give myself one last chance just to do it.

"If I did that, then I gave myself a shot. And if I come 10th, that's fine. If I come last, that's fine.

I guess it went beyond my wildest dreams." He added: "To be able to go into this one with a little bit of expectation, admittedly, and all my friends and family around was really special, to be able to deliver that. I think it's probably one of the most beautiful venues we've ever done the triathlon and probably the Olympic Games has ever seen.

This is super special.".
