Once the undisputed "Khiladi" of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar is now navigating choppy waters as his recent films have struggled to find success at the box office. With two major duds—Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira—in just one year, it seems even the mighty Akshay is not immune to the whims of fickle film audiences. Akshay, who built his career from the ground up, has a unique knack for picking films that mix entertainment with social messages.

Whether it's preaching about the perils of open defecation in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, advocating for affordable sanitary pads in Pad Man, or promoting sex education in OMG 2, he's never shied away from using his star power to address real-world issues. And let's not forget his ventures into dramatizing real-life events, with films like Airlift, Rustom, and Mission Mangal under his belt. A post shared by Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) But being the social crusader of Bollywood isn't always a walk in the park.

Recently, Akshay revealed that even his Bollywood buddies are a bit baffled by his film choices. In a candid chat with India Today, he spilled the beans on the kind of feedback he gets from his industry pals. Akshay said, "Somethings (films and the subjects they discuss) look so good and lovely that your heart would want to do it.

Many people in the industry, including my friends and (movie) critics, have asked ‘Why do you have to make films on sanitary pads and toilets.’ When I made a movie on sex education, a lot of people opposed me, ‘sex’s a bad thing to talk about.’ But I like to do such movies and will keep on doing them if given the opportunity.

” Now, the ever-daring Akshay is gearing up for another shot at the big screen with Khel Khel Mein, a comedy-drama directed by Mudassar Aziz. This time, he’s taking a lighter approach to a social issue, proving that even when he’s playing it for laughs, he’s still got something meaningful to say. The film, which boasts a star-studded cast including Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, and Vaani Kapoor, is set to hit theatres on August 15.
