A man refused to swap seats with a newly-wed bride so she could sit beside her husband on a long-haul flight . More than 22,000 people agreed he was totally entitled to reject her request. The man, who posted his story to the Reddit thread “Am I the Asshole”, explained he had purchased a premium economy seat for a flight from Melbourne to Dubai , paying extra so he would be comfortable for the 14-hour journey.

However, when he sat down, the man beside him said he’d been upgraded and had a favour to ask. “They asked if I could switch seat with their wife as they had just married and were on their honeymoon,” he wrote. The man offered congratulations but after realising the wife was back in economy, said he would not switch.



“He asked if there was any way to convince me. I offered to switch if he paid the difference between the seats,” the man wrote, explaining he’d spent an extra AU$1000 ($1110) for premium economy ..
