90s queen Aishwarya Rai needs no introduction! Today’s kids might not know much about the stunning diva, but only a 90s kid can tell how many millions of hearts she conquered with her natural beauty. Honoured with Padma Shri for her contribution to the field of Entertainment, Aishwarya is one of the most influential people in the world. The actress, who was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’, has been trending once again after LoP Rahul Gandhi allegedly said that there was no Miss India from the SC/ST/OBC (minorities).

However, social media users noted that Aishwarya Rai was an OBC. Reiterating his call for a caste census, Rahul Gandhi claimed that there had been no women belonging to the Dalit, Tribal or OBC communities on the list of Miss India winners. According to him, 90% of the people were not part of the mainstream.

However, if reports are to be believed, Aishwarya belongs to a Tulu-speaking Bunt Community, a linguistic community from the region of coastal Karnataka, especially from the city of Mangalore. Bunts allegedly belong to the warrior class or Kshatriya. However, there are also reports that the Bunt Community does not have a caste system.

Some common surnames of the Bunt Community are Shetty, Hegde, Rai, and Kadamba. Moreover, netizens on X highlighted that not just Aishwarya Rai, there are a few more beautiful women who have gone to represent the country in beauty pageants and won big time. Some of the well-known names are Navneet Kaur Dhillon, Sarah Jane Dias, Gul Panag, Manpreet Brar, Sonu Walia, Farzana Habib, Alamjeet Kaur Chauhan and many more.
