Summary Kurt Vonnegut exhibit at Indy Airport until year-end Part of larger airport initiative to showcase local culture Features memorabilia and works honoring Vonnegut's life A Kurt Vonnegut Exhibit has opened in the KIND Gallery at Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and will be on display until the end of the year. This is the second time that the airport has hosted the museum exhibit, having previously hosted The Legacy of Kurt Vonnegut in 2020. Indy airport often hosts various exhibits and has recently been named the best medium-sized airport in the US for customer satisfaction .

Handling almost 10 million passengers annually, Indy Airport is leading air travel in the Midwest . A Kurt Vonnegut exhibit now on display at Indy Airport The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library states that the exhibit is part of the Indianapolis airport's larger terminal optimization initiative, which showcases the community's culture, tastes, and talents. A number of local artists' artwork is now on display throughout the terminal.



The KIND Gallery is a temporary galley space located in Concourse A of the Indianapolis Airport. It was created in partnership with the Indy Arts Council in an effort to bring new exhibits to the airport (the gallery's name was inspired by the international airport code for the airport, "IND"). “Kurt Vonnegut loved Indianapolis, and Indy loves Kurt.

Having his legacy on display in our KIND Gallery is an honor and demonstrates the great talent and gifts of our broad and diverse Hoosier family.” - IAA Executive Director Mario Rodriguez The Kurt Vonnegut Library exhibit features memorabilia and works in tribute to the life, literature, and influence of Hoosier Kurt Vonnegut. Passengers at the Indy airport can learn highlights about his life and influence, starting from his upbringing in Indianapolis to his imprisonment during World War II and then on to his path to becoming one of the greatest and most loved writers of the 20th century.

“ Kurt loved flying into Indy ,” said KVML Founder and CEO Julia Whitehead. “ Now to have his life, works and memory on exhibit prominently in the best airport in the country is a beautiful way to honor and share his legacy. ” The first phase was completed last year and was recognized for its innovative way of storing carbon emissions in the concrete used for resurfacing.

American Authur Kurt Vonnegut Kurt Vonnegut lived from 1922 to 2007 and was an American author known for his satirical and darkly humorous novels. In World War II, he enlisted in the US Army and was later captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge and then interned in Dresden (which was being bombed to oblivion by the Allies). The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library states " Vonnegut is noted for his love and respect for his fellow Hoosiers, which is best summed up in his famous quote: 'I don’t know what it is about Hoosiers, but wherever you go there is always a Hoosier doing something very important there .

'" Besides being a WWII soldier, Kurt is remembered for being a peace activist, free speech champion, bestselling writer, artist, and a lover of jazz, comedy, theater, and film. He published 14 novels and many other works over a 50+ year period..
