A Norwegian cruise liner will be entering Fiji waters in March next year as part of new partnership with Fiji Airways. The national airline is now foraying into the cruise ship space with an opportunity to team up with international cruise ship operators to complement its air routes. Fiji Airways’ chief executive officer Andre Viljoen said the Norwegian cruise liner will depart from the United States of America to Cairns Australia and then to Fiji.

”The Norwegian cruise liner is planning to start from Cairns and travel to Fiji,” Mr Viljoen said during his presentation at the Fiji Tourism Convention 2024 at Denarau, Nadi on Thursday. ”And Fiji will do several of the island destinations which are Savusavu, Taveuni and Kadavu then it will go to Tahiti and back to Cairns. ”We will be bringing the Americans in the Norwegian liner from Cairns to Fiji.

”So Cairns is also on the radar for next year. ”For the hoteliers you have got competition coming.” Mr Viljoen said other international cruise operators include Crystal Cruises, Silversea, Paul Gauguin cruises, and Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours, which are also in the pipeline.
