Wednesday, November 13, 2024 Mount Lewotobi’s ongoing eruptions in East Flores, part of Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara region, have been generating dense volcanic ash clouds, disrupting airspace safety. This has significant implications for flight safety due to the dangers posed by volcanic ash in the air. As a consequence, AirAsia Malaysia (AK), AirAsia Thailand (FD), AirAsia Indonesia (QZ), and AirAsia X Malaysia (D7) have either cancelled or rescheduled several flights to and from Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo starting from November 4, 2024.

AirAsia has proactively communicated with passengers affected by these changes through email and SMS, informing them about the status of their flights and available alternatives. The airline is diligently working to facilitate safe travel arrangements on the next available flights for impacted travelers. AirAsia continues to closely monitor the volcanic activity at Mount Lewotobi and plans to update its travel advisories as soon as it is safe to resume normal flight operations.
