Thursday, December 26, 2024 Air New Zealand turned a 12-hour flight into a festive wonderland, delighting over 200 travelers with dazzling Christmas surprises and holiday magic in the skies. Travelers aboard NZ7, departing from San Francisco to Auckland on December 24, embarked on a unique 12-hour journey that would take them across the international date line, bypassing Christmas Day entirely and landing on December 26. However, Air New Zealand had no intention of letting Christmas spirit go unnoticed.

The airline’s crew went above and beyond, transforming the Dreamliner into a festive haven, treating over 200 passengers to a sky-high Christmas celebration like no other. The cabin came alive with dazzling festive lighting, creating a magical atmosphere. Travelers were enchanted by unexpected surprises and joyful moments throughout the flight, turning their journey into a truly unforgettable holiday experience.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Greg Foran says the airline wanted to create a special surprise to bring festive joy to its customers this year. “Every detail was designed to bring the magic of Christmas to life, even at 30,000 feet. It’s our way of spreading some Air New Zealand manaaki to one lucky flight full of festive travellers this year.

What a terrific way to celebrate Christmas in the skies.” Air New Zealand’s Grace Blewitt says the goal was to make spirits bright for passengers on this time-hopping journey, inspired by the airline’s Christmas camp.
