Friday, November 22, 2024 Air India is launching a Basic Maintenance Training Organization in Bengaluru to offer a DGCA-certified Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program, boosting India’s aviation workforce. Air India, one of India’s premier international airline groups, is establishing a Basic Maintenance Training Organization (BMTO) to offer a comprehensive Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program. This program, certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), will span four years, with two years of academic learning followed by two years of practical, on-the-job training.
The BMTO initiative represents a strategic step in bolstering India’s aviation sector, aligning with Air India’s broader transformation goals. As the airline continues to expand its fleet, the program aims to enhance the availability of skilled aircraft maintenance engineers, contributing to the country’s self-reliance in aviation. To bring this vision to life, Air India has joined forces with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a division of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).
Together, they will develop a state-of-the-art training facility tailored to the AME program’s needs. Covering an area of 86,000 square feet at Bengaluru Airport City, this purpose-built campus will feature modern classrooms, advanced laboratories for practical training, and a team of expert trainers. The facility is slated to be operational by mid-2026.
The BMTO is set to be establis.
