Wednesday, August 14, 2024 A Bengaluru resident has sparked outrage on social media after accusing Air India of ‘high-handedness’ for abruptly changing her flight from Delhi to San Francisco. Loveleen Arun alleged that the airline canceled the originally scheduled August 18 flight, offering passengers a new date of August 22. When passengers protested, Air India proposed an alternative route via Mumbai on August 17, which was inconvenient for those based in Bengaluru.

Arun claimed that despite multiple requests for a direct Bengaluru-Mumbai-San Francisco flight, Air India categorically denied the request, forcing passengers to choose between a lengthy 10-hour layover in Delhi or waiting until August 22. In a scathing post on X, Arun criticized the airline for its lack of empathy, highlighting the financial burden caused by booking, canceling, and rebooking domestic flights. Her post quickly garnered attention, with many users sharing similar experiences of flight cancellations and rescheduling with Air India.

The airline has since apologized for the inconvenience and requested further details to investigate the matter. However, the damage to the airline’s reputation appears to have already been done. This incident comes amid growing concerns about airline customer service and the increasing frequency of flight disruptions.

As passengers demand more reliability and flexibility, airlines face pressure to improve their handling of such situations..
