An Air India flight attendant is believed to have been physically assaulted in a hotel room in London. It is unclear when the crew member was attacked, but the carrier posted on social media on Sunday that it is “deeply anguished” after learning of the incident. The attacker's identity or motive is unknown.

Air India has requested privacy for the staff involved and urged people to “refrain” from speculation about the incident on social media. Details of the incident The Indian flag carrier confirmed in a post on X that the incident occurred at a hotel in London. It is now working with local law enforcement to investigate the matter.

“We are deeply anguished by an unlawful incident of intrusion at a hotel, operated by a major international chain that affected one of our own. At Air India, we are as concerned about this incident as all of you are. We are providing all possible support to our colleague and the broader team, including professional counselling.

Air India is also working with the local police and will pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law.” According to NDTV , the attack happened at a hotel near Heathrow Airport (LHR) . The suspect is believed to be a person from Nigeria and has been arrested.

While the motive has not been determined, the injuries that the flight attendant sustained were not severe. Taking action Air India said it has taken immediate action and has moved its employees to a different hotel to ensure their safety and comfort. The airline also explained that it constantly reviews its hotel accommodations for crew members based on feedback from its employees.

“We have reached out to the management of the current hotel to ensure the security of colleagues staying there,” the carrier stated. “We have been given an assurance that there will be no compromise to safety and security till such time our colleagues are relocated to another hotel.” An investigation into the incident has been launched, and Air India’s top management has reportedly been in touch with the victim.

Additionally, the airline’s senior officials have since traveled to London, according to NDTV. The airline said, “polite reminders have been made” concerning following the rules. No further information about the extent of the assault has been made available.

Air India never confirmed that the crew member was physically or sexually assaulted, but again, referred to the attack as an “incident of intrusion.” The identity of the victim is also not known. “We request that the privacy of those involved is respected,” the airline explained.

“Requesting all to refrain and use their judgement towards speculation on social media posts.” Failing to book hotel rooms for crew members Air India was in hot water last month after it admitted to forgetting to book hotel rooms for crew members in Hyderabad. When the crew arrived at their intended hotel, they were informed that no reservations were made.

After allegedly waiting for four hours, the crew was finally taken to the carrier’s training facility, which was an exceptionally subpar substitution. “Air India accords foremost priority to the safety, security and wellbeing of all employees who travel on duty,” the carrier said. The crew members reportedly had to wait for hours before they eventually found a place to stay at.
