Friday, November 8, 2024 Air Canada is preparing to launch a direct, nonstop service from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Piarco International Airport (POS) in Trinidad, beginning on May 1, 2025. The new service, operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8, is anticipated to strengthen international connectivity and make travel to Trinidad more convenient for Canadian tourists and business travelers. This strategic route expansion aims to promote tourism in Trinidad and Tobago, enhance cross-cultural exchanges, and stimulate economic development in the region.
The service will operate four times a week, increasing accessibility to the twin-island nation for Canadian travelers. Flight AC 984 will depart from Toronto to Port of Spain on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The return flight, AC 985, will operate from Port of Spain back to Toronto on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The choice of the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, with its capacity of 169 seats, is expected to ensure a comfortable travel experience for passengers on this new route. This schedule is designed to accommodate various traveler needs, whether for short getaways, extended vacations, or business trips, making it easier for Canadians to experience the unique attractions and cultural vibrancy of Trinidad and Tobago. Randall Mitchell, the Minister of Tourism of Trinidad and Tobago, shared his enthusiasm for Air Canada’s return to the country, describing the service as a gateway to new opport.
