Thursday, November 7, 2024 Air Canada has announced a major expansion of its intermodal travel strategy, extending its service to include Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, along with its first air-to-rail connections in Asia, now available in South Korea. Customers can now seamlessly book flights alongside convenient land connections, offering greater flexibility and enhanced travel options across Europe and Asia. Building on the success of its initial intermodal services launched in December 2023 in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, Air Canada’s new offerings enable travelers to link their flights with rail and bus journeys on a single itinerary.

This expansion includes partnerships with Trenitalia in Italy, Renfe in Spain, and five operators in the UK, including National Express, as well as KORAIL in South Korea. “This expansion provides our customers not only with greater choice but also sustainable options for short-haul travel,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada. In partnership with AccesRail, travelers booking on www.

aircanada.com can now reserve connecting rail or bus segments, allowing them to bypass the need for separate tickets and enjoy a unified travel experience. Customers can check in for rail or bus portions ahead of time, and in cases of flight disruptions, both air and land segments will be rebooked to ensure continuity.
