Monday, September 9, 2024 Vietnam continues to be a highly sought-after destination in Asia, where travelers show a strong desire to return, according to Agoda’s recent Return Visitor Ranking report. Alongside Vietnam, Thailand and Japan are also frequently revisited by travelers who can’t seem to get enough of their favorite locations. The Agoda survey reveals that 44 percent of Asian travelers cite “Ease of Travel” as the leading reason for returning to their chosen destinations.

The report underscores Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam as standout destinations that consistently attract repeat visits. For Vietnamese travelers, a single trip to Thailand is rarely enough. An estimated 75 percent express their eagerness to revisit their favorite spots.



Based on Agoda’s findings from this month’s survey, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea topped the list of destinations for repeat visits, followed by Singapore and China. Among Vietnamese respondents, nearly 47 percent are driven by a thirst for adventure in their upcoming travels. Culinary delights appeal to 39 percent, while 26 percent are motivated by arts and cultural experiences.

Of those who frequently return to favored destinations, 64 percent have visited their top spots between one and three times in the past decade, marking them as the largest group of returning travelers. Remarkably, 8 percent have made 10 or more visits to their favorite locations. While many travelers are drawn to new adventures, others find joy in revisiting beloved places.

The Agoda Return Visitor Ranking emphasizes that for Vietnamese travelers, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea provide experiences that resonate deeply. When asked about what makes these destinations so compelling, Vietnamese travelers pointed to ease of travel, exceptional cuisine, and convenient locations as their top three reasons. Additionally, safety, cleanliness, and positive past experiences play key roles in their decision to return.

The Return Visitor Ranking survey, conducted by Agoda between August 1 and 19, 2024, featured responses from over 4,000 participants across 10 markets, including Indonesia, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Vietnam..
