MCU's new series Agatha All Along debuted this week, and it has confirmed that Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff is in fact dead. Played by Elizabeth Olsen, the character Wanda was introduced in the MCU with Avengers: Age of Ultron and her last appearance was in the recent release Doctor Strange Multiverse Of Madness. The character went through much turmoil in the last decade and finally met her end in the Doctor Strange sequel.

But fans were holding out hope that Wanda could return to the MCU. For one, she is too powerful and will be needed in the upcoming fights scheduled in the MCU like Doomsday and Secret Wars. Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness have bad blood since WandaVision.

At the end of the show, Wanda sets off to find her song Billy and Tommy after absorbing Agatha's powers and putting her into a spell to stay in Westview. As Wanda travels through the multiverse looking for her songs, she begins to use Dark powers and the Darkhold begins to corrupt her in turn. However, at the end of Doctor Strange 2, Wanda realises her mistake and to change the outcome she destroys every copy of the Darkhold.

In the process, she also destroys the mystical tome and Wundagore Mountain which crashes down on her hinting at her death. The film also showed Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) clearing things up when asked if Wanda made it. The actor can be seen shaking his head with a “No" and confirming the death.

The timeline book titled Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline listed Scarlet Witch's tragic demise. The book reads, "Wanda destroys Wundagore – and collapses it upon herself – ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.

" The entry is also noted with a symbol often shared for major character deaths, once again officially confirming Scarlet Witch's fate. Earlier actress Elizabeth Olsen has also spoken about Wanda's death. She told Jimmu Kimmel, “I think so.

I assume as much. Yeah, and there was a red light of explosive energy. I think I’m dead.

I would beg to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies. I would like to figure out how to cleverly be undead.

We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense. I’m open to ideas.” Wanda: Scarlet Witch Died on October 13th in the MCU pic.

It was emphasized over and over again in the two-episode premiere of the MCU show.

In Episode 1 Seekest Thou The Road, Agatha sets out to investigate an unidentified body found in the woods. While the body's face is never shown, she’s described as someone in “Late 20s, green eyes, 5’7”,” with “hair the colour of scarlet.” The body is also seen wearing a similar outfit to the one Wanda was seen wearing in the film.

The body's fingers are also corrupted with dark magic similar to Scarlet Witch. It only gets worse as Agatha's memories keep coming back once again confirming Wanda's death since it is the only way the spell could be lifted. On remembering who Agatha is, the body's toe tag finally reveals the words Wanda Maxminoff.

Then there is also the matter of the mysterious teen suspected to be Wanda's son Billy. With him walking the Witches' road, Billy could ask for his mother's return if he manages to survive the Witches' road. Cover artwork by Patrick Gawande/Mashable India.
