Saturday, September 21, 2024 Delta Air Lines is gearing up for a massive summer expansion in 2025, rolling out its largest-ever transatlantic flight schedule, featuring new routes and increased frequencies to some of Europe’s most sought-after destinations. With a focus on Italy and other popular European cities, Delta is offering more than 700 weekly flights to 33 destinations across the continent. Travelers can now enjoy new and direct flights from several U.

S. hubs, including New York-JFK , Atlanta, Boston, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Detroit, giving them unprecedented access to iconic locations like Catania, Sicily, Naples, Rome, and Barcelona.

As the largest U.S. carrier in the Italian market, Delta is increasing service to Italy by over 10% year-over-year, making it easier than ever for travelers to enjoy the rich history, cuisine, and landscapes of this Mediterranean destination.

The most exciting addition is Delta’s first-ever nonstop service to Catania, Sicily, marking a groundbreaking development as no U.S. airline has offered direct flights to this southern Italian city before.

Beginning in May 2025, daily flights from New York-JFK will take passengers straight to the heart of Sicily’s cultural heritage, providing easy access to attractions like Mount Etna and the vibrant piazzas of Catania. Alongside this, Delta is adding more flights to Naples, further expanding its reach in southern Italy. Travelers can now book four-times-weekly flights from Atlanta to Naples , in addition to existing services from New York-JFK.

This makes iconic spots like the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, and the islands of Capri and Ischia more accessible. While Italy takes center stage, Delta is also bolstering its routes across other major European cities. In May 2025 , Delta will launch new routes from Boston to both Milan and Barcelona , adding four and three weekly flights, respectively.

These flights open up new opportunities for passengers to explore Milan’s fashion scene and Barcelona’s stunning architecture and coastal beauty . Another key addition to Delta’s summer schedule is the Detroit to Dublin route. This new four-times-weekly service provides travelers in the Midwest easy access to Ireland’s capital , known for its rich history and lively pubs.

The route complements Delta’s existing service to Dublin from Atlanta, Boston, New York-JFK, and Minneapolis. Meanwhile, passengers flying from Minneapolis-St. Paul will have access to Rome , as Delta resumes this route for the first time since 2016, offering four weekly flights.

Rome continues to be a popular destination for U.S. travelers, and this expansion adds more convenience for Midwestern passengers.

In addition to these new destinations, Delta is increasing its frequency on several key routes. Passengers traveling from Atlanta will now have more flights to Athens , Barcelona , Rome , and Zurich , with 11 weekly flights to Athens, 10 weekly flights to Barcelona, and 17 weekly flights to Rome. The airline is also boosting its Detroit to Munich service to daily flights, reflecting growing demand for travel to Bavaria.
