Pune: The much-awaited diploma in pharmacy admissions, delayed due to pending approvals of colleges from the Pharmacy Council of India , will start on October 12, a recent notification from the Directorate of Technical Education said. The form-filling process for CAP round 1 will be between October 12 and 14 with classes expected to begin only after Diwali. Principal of MCE Society's Allana College of Pharmacy V N Jagtap said the whole delay occurred because the PCI kept saying they would inspect all the colleges and then give approval, and only after that would the admissions start.
"Despite multiple requests, Maharashtra govt also did not allow existing colleges to start the admission process without PCI's go-ahead. This led to an long delay in admissions. Now, we fear not even 50% of the seats will be filled, and the academic calendar has gone for a toss.
The classes may start after November 15," Jagtap added.
