Prayagraj: After receding for several days, the water level of Ganga and Yamuna has once again started to rise in the city since Tuesday afternoon. Till Tuesday morning, the water in Ganga showed a declining trend at Phaphamau, but in the afternoon hours, it started to rise at Phaphamau and Chhatnaag. Similarly, Yamuna at Naini also showed a rising trend .

Officials of the flood control department claimed that though the water level of the twin rivers was rising but the pace was slow. The residents of more than a dozen localities, including Ganga Nagar, Newada, Draupadi Ghat, Chota Baghara, and adjoining areas, are once again apprehensive and keeping a strict watch on the level. Officials claimed that the level rose after floodwater was released into the twin rivers.



By 8am, the water level of Ganga at Phaphamau, Chhatnag, and Yamuna at Naini was 79.53m, 78.18m, and 78.
