The Gamathon 24 video game convention by Africacomicade kicked off earlier in the week, bringing together leading experts in the video games, immersive and interactive media industries across Africa. Themed, ‘Thrive’, the event which is holding in Lagos State promised to unite global stakeholders and establish partnerships with major industry players such as XBOX, STEAM, UNITY, Rovio, Carry 1st, the IGDA Foundation, IndieGame Business, and Humble Bundle, among others. At the media briefing to herald the fourth edition of the event, the organisers announced that the convention is expected to feature a game jam with Afric: game development talents building exciting and interactive video games; an Ark pitch where gai studio founders and indie developers are provided with the platform to pitch their projects for an opportunity to receive prototype grants; an industry showcase designated for the exhibition of tons of creative outputs; the tour of Lagos city for an interlude view of several delightful locations; panel sessions to imbue experts and participants in an interactive discovery conversation; and a gaming EXPO.
