Tuesday, October 1, 2024 ATTA appoints Kgomotso Ramothea as Chief Executive Officer and James Haigh as Chair, ushering in dynamic leadership to accelerate Africa tourism growth. The African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA) has appointed two industry veterans to key leadership roles, marking a major milestone in the organization’s growth. Kgomotso Ramothea, the first African female CEO, steps into her new role with a bold vision to expand Africa largest tourism network.
With over 20 years of experience in marketing and communications across various sectors, Kgomotso most recently served as Acting Hub Head for South African Tourism in the UK, overseeing the marketing strategy for both the UK and Ireland. She will now collaborate with Chris Mears, CEO of ATTA Events, and operate from ATTA’s new office. Kgomotso’s appointment coincides with James Haigh’s new role as ATTA’s Chair, effective October 2024, following Nick Aslin’s tenure.
With 25 years of tourism experience across countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, and consultancy projects in Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe, James brings a wealth of knowledge to the position.
